Adios, Lunch: El Loco Roller Coaster Opens at Adventuredome Inside Circus Circus Las Vegas
Las Vegas just got a fresh injection of “Aieee!” The El Loco roller coaster has opened inside Adventuredome at Circus Circus Las Vegas.
Yes, the new Circus Circus roller coaster is called El Loco, or “The Crazy.” Let’s not get bogged down in details.
The new coaster features a maximum speed of 45 miles per hour and 1,300 feet of track. Oh, and the ride lasts 72 seconds, or about the duration of having sex with this Las Vegas blog. (Both experiences may result in lightheadedness and nausea.)
El Loco boasts four-person cars that have something called an “open carriage” design and surround-sound speakers built into each seat.
El Loco is also unique in that it’s indoors, inside Adventuredome’s, you know, dome. It’s the only indoor coaster of its kind in the country, and only the second El Loco coaster in the world.
If you’re a roller coaster nerd, here are some other facts of interest: El Loco has a 90-foot ascent followed by a high lateral G hairpin turn and a greater-than-straight-down diving drop producing a negative 1.5 “vertical G.”

El Loco also has a “lateral floater” that transitions into a 45-degree outwardly-banked curve and doughnut roll, as well as a 180-degree turn into a barrel roll and a reverse 240-degree roll into an inverted drop.
Coincidentally, “lateral floater” is also the term used for bodies found in Nevada’s Lake Mead during the mob era of Las Vegas. Unless we’re making that up, which is entirely possible.
El Loco is included in the price of an all-day Adventuredome Premium pass ($29.95), but single ride tickets are also available for $10.
Riders must be at least four feet tall to ride this new Las Vegas thrill ride.
